Our Governing Elders
Tom Allen has served as the Teaching Pastor of Bible Fellowship since July 2005. His passion for preaching comes out of his belief that relevant, Christ-centered teaching promotes spiritual growth and points people to Christ. He focuses on expository preaching, which is the verse by verse teaching through books of the Bible that ensures believers get the whole counsel of God and not just certain topics out of balance. Tom believes that God has gifted all believers for the work of the ministry and therefore a high priority of the local church should be to help people recognize their gifts, develop them and be trained for the work of ministry. Tom's love for the Lord is exhibited in his gift of evangelism and desire to share Christ with all who will listen.
Tom also serves full-time as Associate Professor of Cairns University. He is an alumnus of PBU and holds a Master of Theology in New Testament Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary. Tom and his wife, Tammy, live in Langhorne and have three children.
Don has attended Bible Fellowship since 2000 after leaving 20+ years as a missionary-pastor to become a professor at Cairn University (formerly Philadelphia Biblical University). He has served at Cairn as professor of church ministries and in several administrative capacities. He has earned degrees from Multnomah University, Western Seminary, and Talbot School of Theology. Don has taught classes at BFC, provided pulpit supply, and served as a consultant to the church board. He and his wife, Jan, live in Levittown and have three grown children and three grandchildren.
Paul and his wife, Carol, have been attending Bible Fellowship Church since 1988 and he is currently serving his second term as an elder. Paul grew up in a Christian home but it was not until 1979 that he committed his life to the Lord. After Paul allowed God to take charge of his life, God began to reshape his priorities, strengthen his family life, and instill a renewed desire for prayer, Bible study and Christian fellowship. Paul is excited by the many opportunities at Bible Fellowship to serve and to grow spiritually. Paul previously served as a deacon for 11 years and is currently leading an inductive Bible study and co-leading a men’s DNA group.
Paul retired from Johnson & Johnson after 26 years and has established a part-time consulting business for medical device manufacturers. Paul and Carol live in Washington Crossing, PA and have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren. His hobbies include woodworking and trying to keep up with his very active grandchildren.
John began attending Bible Fellowship Church in 2000 and is currently serving his first term as an elder. John grew up in a Christian home and gave his life to the Lord at the age of 15. At Bible Fellowship, John joined the Finance Team in 2009 and became chairman in 2011. Because small groups are important to John in helping him grow spiritually and stay connected with others in the church body, he attends a men’s DNA group and leads a Care Ring with his wife, Barbara. A mission trip to Rwanda in 2009 with his wife was one of the most significant experiences in his life and has had a profound impact on his walk with the Lord.
John graduated from Penn State University with an accounting degree and from Lehigh University with an MBA. John is a Registered Investment Adviser, Financial Planner and Certified Public Accountant for his own firm in Lower Makefield. John and Barbara along with his step-son, Nickolaus von Dohlen, also reside in his hometown of Lower Makefield.
Joe and Darlene, his wife of 48 years, are charter members of Bible Fellowship Church and were involved in the planting of our church in 1981. He is currently serving his second term as an elder. Joe came to know the Lord at age 17. Throughout his time at Bible Fellowship Church, he has served as an elder and as a deacon, has taught Sunday school and led youth groups. In addition, Joe headed the design and construction team for Bible Fellowship’s present building.
Joe received a degree in mechanical industrial engineering from Drexel University and an MBA from Rider University. Joe retired from a large New Jersey utility after 35 years and is currently working part time at ACT Engineering, a small engineering firm in Robbinsville, NJ. Joe and Darlene live in Lambertville, NJ, have 3 married children and enjoy participating in their 10 grandchildren’s lives.
Warren and his wife, Sandy, have been attending Bible Fellowship Church since the spring of 2002 and he is currently serving his second term as an elder. Warren gave his life to the Lord at the age of 13. He has served as a teacher for adult discipleship classes and currently serves on the Adult Discipleship Ministry Team in helping develop the vision for Biblical community within the church. In addition, Warren and Sandy lead a Care Ring for young married couples.
Warren is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the State of PA. He holds a masters degree in counseling from Liberty University and a doctorate in counseling and religion from Bethany Divinity College and Seminary. Warren has worked with adolescents, families, couples and adults since 1979. At his former church, Langhorne Terrace Baptist, he served as Minister of Congregational Care and Counseling for 17 years, as well as Minister of Students and Families for 6 years. He established a private practice in 2001 and is on staff at Ganey Counseling and Consultation in Newtown, PA. Warren and Sandy have been married for 33 years, have two adult children, and reside in Levittown, PA.
John and his family have been attending Bible Fellowship Church for 6 years and he has just begun his first term as an elder. After years of attending church, John was led to Bible Fellowship where he clearly heard the truth of the gospel. Jesus came into his heart and life and changed both completely and permanently. John is a mentor at Bible Fellowship as well as a Care Ring leader. He has a heart for missions and has hosted missionaries, served in Kensington, and traveled to Hong Kong to work with youth. John has a passion for studying the Word of God, loves the Lord, and feels especially blessed to be a servant in this body of believers.
John attended Drexel University and studied engineering. He is the Vice President of Equipment for a major construction materials supplier in Northern New Jersey. John and his wife, Susan, have just celebrated their 30th anniversary and have two children, Brittany (24) and Hunter (20). The Selmans have resided in Langhorne, PA for 30 years.
Bob Travis began serving as Lead Pastor of Bible Fellowship in August 2008, where his visionary leadership is helping equip the church to effectively carry out the Great Commission. His desire is to build a church that is passionate about seeing lives changed as people come to know Jesus Christ and grow in their relationship with him. His philosophy of ministry is based on the foundational principles that biblical teaching is critical to the spiritual life and health of the church, and that ministry without prayer will have little eternal significance. His vision for BFC includes building strong community within the church family that promotes growth in Christ.
He also desires to help mobilize the church to engage both its community and the world with the gospel of Christ. Bob provides leadership to the elders and staff in the development and implementation of the church’s vision, strategic plan and ministry plans. He also oversees the worship and preaching ministries and shares in the pulpit responsibilities on a regular basis.
Bob is a graduate of Penn State and enjoyed a successful 9-year career in marketing before making the decision to go into full-time ministry. After earning a Master of Theology in Pastoral Leadership from Dallas Theological Seminary, he served on the pastoral staff of two other churches before coming to Bible Fellowship. Bob and his wife, Janet, reside in Yardley with their three sons.
